	This is a rather strange offset stone, why does the border not go all the way round? It looks like the original stone has been cut on the right hand side and the later engraving commemorating Richard Midgley was then added (as the inscription is complete but just squashed up on one side of the stone). 			World War Two sees a lot less interest in the creation of Rolls Of Honour locally. Perhaps because conscription was already in place there was less need for encouraging young men to join up. Perhaps the horrors of the First World War were still in the minds of many.

			However, we do have one surviving Roll of Honour from this war, also now housed in the Midgley Community Room. It contains 57 names including [[Harry Noble]] who was killed in Action in Libya in 1942 and is commemorated on the villages' cenotaph.<br>

			It also contains the names of four women who signed up.<br>

	At the time of the consecration, a stone cross was installed in the churchyard. This was removed a few years later during the English Civil War and was thought to have been lost. 	The font was removed at the same time. One side was broken off it when it was moved from the church (as is still the law, to make sure that the font cannot be used for evil) so this now resembles a bucket seat and was known as Boggart’s chair. One side was broken off it when it was moved from the church (as is still the law, to make sure that the font cannot be used for evil) so this now resembles a bucket seat and was known as Boggart’s chair. This too was found at Ellen Royd (a former name for Ellen Royd was Boggart House). It is now housed in St Mary's.
