Introduction
The original idea for a World War One project was discussed by the Luddenden Conservation Society in 2014. The project has been focused on commemorating each of the 45 men from WW1 named on the Luddenden & Midgley War Memorial, which was unveiled on Sunday 23 April 1923.

This publication documents the Luddenden & Midgley WW1 Commemoration Project through to the final event on Sunday 30 April 2023.

The community history project forms the Society’s commemoration of the centenary of the First World War in Luddenden & Midgley.

The WW1 Commemoration Project has commemorated each man on the 100th anniversary of his death and has finished on 30 April 2023 with the publication of a book telling the story.
